My kids love getting all patriotic for the 4th of July. We decorate their bikes for the big 4th of July neighborhood parade, and that means they too have to wear lots of red, white, and blue. Well, I thought… why not make a headband that is fun and easy for kids to make. So, my daughter helped me design this fun and easy 4th of July Perler Bead headband.
Perler bead headband supplies:
- Darice Plastic Headband
- Darice Blue Satin Ribbon
- Large Perler Bead Clear Board
- Red, White & Blue Perler Beads
- Darice Hot Glue Gun
Step 1. Create your flag pattern using the Perler Beads.
Step 2. Cover the end of the headband with thin ribbon and secure it by hot gluing it in place. Wrap ribbon around the entire headband. Make sure to evenly space it. When you get to the end of the headband, hot glue the end of your ribbon in place.
Step 3. Follow the instruction for ironing the Perler Beads. Make sure to use the paper that comes with the Perler Beads as well. After you have ironed both sides, the flag will still be somewhat hot. Carefully take and bend the flag on to the headband.
***An adult should do the ironing as well as the bending of the flag as they will be hot. *** The flag will mold to the shape of the headband. Hold the flag onto the headband while cooling. After the headband has cooled, hot glue it in place.
This is so easy peasy! And kids love to wear their own creations.
Our bunny Flopsy had to get in on the action too!
Yay for the Red, White, and Blue! You’re kids will love making these and I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July!
