I love seeing embroidery hoops used more and more in home decor. I like the visual interest of circles, and the shape is an easy one to frame art and fabric with. My DIY embroidery hoop project today was really simple and makes for a fun patriotic look for summer. This DIY embroidery hoop decor can be displayed either indoor or outdoors (wherever your patriotic party is being held).
Patriotic DIY Embroidery Hoop Decor Supplies:
- Darice 12 inch Wooden Embroidery Hoops.
- Darice Bandanas in Royal Blue, Red, and White.
- Darice Paper Mache Star Ornament (3).
- Metallic Silver Spray Paint.
- DecoArt Americana Gel Stain in Maple.
- Darice Jute Cord.
- Darice Hot Glue Gun.
- Pinking Shears (Optional).
Open your embroidery hoop and sandwich your bandana in between the hoops.
Center the bandana, and secure the hoops. Pull the bandana smooth inside the hoop.
Using scissors trim around the perimeter of the bandana, leaving about 2″ of cloth. I used crimped scissors (or pinking shears) to the give the pieces a fun country look.
Tie a length of jute around the hoop enclosure and tie a bow at the end.
That’s it, your DIY embroidery hoop decorations are done! Now that’s some big impact decor that is inexpensive and easy to assemble.

Since then, her work has evolved into a clean, linear, photo-focused style. She has been published a few times, been to a few trade shows, taught a few classes, worked for a few design teams…but has not yet lost the love for this hobby. Shaunte loves it for the creative outlet, and the good people she has met along the way. Her favorite subjects to scrap are her husband and five kids (never a lack for subject material).
