Easter is early this year so I am excited to get my spring and Easter craft on! I wanted to add a little sparkle and fun metallic touch to my decor this year so I decided to create some fun gold and silver leaf DIY Easter egg decorations. These are perfect for adding to your Easter table or for a pretty spring mantel. There are so many possibilities of where these would look good. Keep on reading to learn how to make these easy decorations.
- Darice Paper Mache Eggs.
- Mod Podge.
- Darice Gold Leaf Sheets or Silver Leaf Sheets.
- Darice Foam Brush.
- Darice Soft Bristle Paint Brush.
Next you will lay a piece of gold leaf on top of the Mod Podge. Use a soft bristled paint brush in a tapping motion to secure the gold leafing to the egg but be careful not to tear the golf leaf as it is really fragile.
If you miss any spots on the eggs, you can go back, add a little more Mod Podge and then add a small portion of leafing. Be sure to let the eggs dry completely before handling. Until they are dry the leafing is still a bit fragile so it is best to let them dry for a couple of hours before handling too much.
I couldn’t decide if I wanted gold or silver so I made one each of these fabulous DIY Easter egg decorations! And I love them both equally! I love the beautiful metallic touch they add to my space and my spring decor. I also love that while they look like metal, they are really really light weight because they are paper mache eggs. And I couldn’t believe how easy these were to make. Just use care when dealing with the leaf papers as they are thin and tear easily.
If you’re loving the glamorous look of these DIY Easter egg decorations, consider adding a little color to your eggs before gold and silver leafing them. Check out these gold leaf Easter eggs for the idea! Tell us what you love to craft for Easter in the comments below!
