I hope you find it as easy as I did to learn how to wood burn! I had a lot of fun coming up with what design I wanted to burn on my jewelry box. If you are just starting out wood burning, make sure to pick a simple design that isn’t too intricate. As your skill improves, you can really add a lot of detail.
When learning how to wood burn always make sure you screw the general tip into your wood burning tool and then plug it in. This way it will be hot and ready for you to use when you are done drawing your design.
To start, put the top of your mason jar on the jewelry box side and trace around it with your pencil. On the sides I created a design with half circles.
Using the general tip on your wood burning tool, trace around the pencil marks you made.
Please note that the longer you leave the wood burning tool on your wood the darker the burn will be. When learning how to wood burn it’s important to remember that you really are burning wood, so there will be a little bit of smoke and smell of burning wood. Don’t be alarmed! It’s a good idea to do this project in a well ventilated area, or open a window.
