These DIY iron-on notebooks are so easy to make and perfect for back to school or just for a writing journal. This project uses iron-on vinyl added to the front of paper notebooks. Iron-on is perfect for paper as it is a permanent treatment that is quick and easy to add. Read on to learn how to decorate a notebook with iron-on vinyl.
- Darice Paper Notebooks
- Iron-on Material
- Cricut or Other Cutting Machine
- Weeding Tools (Optional)
- Cut Files (life is tough, failure/success quote, keep choosing joy)
Then upload that image to the software for your cutting machine. Mirror that image and cut from your chosen iron-on product. You can use regular, glitter, holographic, or any other type you love. Then weed away the excess iron-on material from around your words and also the centers of all letters. You will be left with something that looks like the image below.
Now you just need to iron it on your notebook. The iron-on product I used had directions for adding to cardstock and I used those in this case for ironing. If yours doesn’t have directions, start with a medium setting or around 275 degrees for about 20 seconds. You will also want to make sure that your clear carrier sheet covers the entire surface so you don’t get any burns. If it does not, just add parchment paper over the top to protect while ironing.
Then just allow to cool and remove that carrier sheet from the top. If the iron-on is not sticking, press again and repeat the process. Trust me, this method does work and it makes adorable notebooks!
