DIY Dipped Glitter Mason Jars

Who vows to get more organized with each coming new year? I know I do! Seems to be at the top of my resolution every year and I’m sure this year it will be more of the same. But, in efforts to get motivated  I decided to start with a simple project to help get my office supplies organized.  I painted and added glitter to a wide mouth mason jar to add a little pizzazz to my pens, pencils and scissors. Follow along as I show you how to make these glitter mason jars.

Dipped-glitter-mason-jars-DariceThere are so many fun things to do with mason jars so I always keep a nice little stash of them. Not to mention painting and adding glitter to anything is so much fun!

Dipped Glitter Mason Jars Supplies:

  • Darice Silver Glitter
  • 2 Darice Foam Brushes
  • Mod Podge Gloss
  • Wide Mouth Mason Jars
  • Washi Tape or Painter’s Tape
  • Craft Paint (I used black)

Dipped-glitter-mason-jars-Darice-4Step one: Using your foam brush and black craft paint, paint the mason jar. Do not paint the inside or the bottom. Allow to dry completely and then give it another coat.  Allow second coat to dry.

Dipped-glitter-mason-jars-Darice-5Step two: Once both coats of paint are completely dry, grab some painter’s tape or washi tape and tape off the parts that you do not want to have glitter on.

*Note: Be sure you use Mod Podge GLOSS finish for this last part. Once it’s dry your glitter will still be sparkly. Feel free to cover the whole jar in Modge Podge. Allow a few hours to dry completely.
