Place the petroleum jelly into your microwave and heat until completely melted. It may take a couple of minutes to melt it all completely, but don’t scorch it.
After it is melted, add your Kool-Aid and stir using a spatula until combined. The recipe calls for a range in measurement for Kool-Aid to add. If you want a smoother texture and more subtle scent, use less Kool-Aid. If you want a stronger scent, add more Kool-Aid. So start with a smaller amount and gradually add more until you are happy with the results.
If you want to add a bit of color to your homemade lip balm, you can stir in a few drops of green food coloring. I love the fun color it adds to the tins of lip gloss, but when I apply it, it does not look green. So feel free to add it if you want, but you don’t have to.
Once it has cooled, you can add your lid and tie with a piece of twine and a cute printable tag!
These make great gifts and are so fun to make and use too! This lip balm holder DIY tutorial also makes for a cute gifts or party favors!
