The first day of school is approaching, and if you’re ready to document the occasion, you’ll want to make a sign your child can hold on their first day! This first day of school photo ideas sign can be used year after year in photos, just erase the details, and add in the answers for the new school year!
First day of school photo ideas chalkboard supplies:
- Darice Chalkboard
- White Paint Pen
- 8″ of Ribbon (optional)
- Chalk
Decide what questions you’d like to put on your first day of school photo ideas chalkboard. Of course I started my list with “First Day of”, but wanted to add some more detail. For example, my son’s favorite color, favorite food, favorite subject, and what he wants to be when he grows up. Other details you might want to add would be the name of your child’s teacher or best friend, their height or shoe size (just for fun!), or even what they are eating for lunch that day. Whatever details you want to capture.
Once you have the details down, you can decorate the edges. I did simple dots and lines to add a fun border. You can do ABCs, numbers, shapes, or whatever design you like.
I swapped out the rope handle for a ribbon handle in my son’s school colors. Just thread the ribbon through the holes and tie a knot on each end to secure.
On the first day of school, or even the night before, grab your chalk and write in all the details.
The chalkboard is small, and can easily be stored in a closet or bookshelf for next year, or you can hang it up by the ribbon. If you’d like to add some end-of-the-year fun, add a “Last day of” questionnaire to the back of the chalkboard so this first day of school photo ideas chalkboard can be used both at the beginning and end of the year!
