I’m always looking for fun decor for my house that’s easy to customize in any color or design. Here is a project that can be made for your house in very little time using a paper mache letter, some fabric, and a few other items. The best part about this DIY monogram project is…it won’t break the bank. So, let’s get started!
Fabric DIY Monogram Initial Supplies:
- Darice Paper Mache Letter
- Darice 8mm Clear Acrylic Rhinestones
- Darice 12mm Acrylic Rhinestones
- 2 Different Coordinating Fabrics
- Scissors
- Mod Podge & Paint Brush
- Hot Glue Gun
- Needle & Thread
Step 1. Place the fabric right side down. Place the paper mache letter on top and trace roughly a 1/2″ border around the letter. Cut the fabric out.
Step 2. Apply Mod Podge to the paper mache letter with a paint brush. Lay the fabric down and adhere it to the letter with the Mod Podge already painted on it. Continue to wrap the fabric around the edges. Repeat the same process to cover the back of the letter.
Step 3. Cut the remaining pieces and apply with Mod Podge as needed to completely cover the letter with fabric.
To Create The Flowers:
Step 1. Take a circle template and trace 4 circles. To save time, I doubled up the fabric so I would only have to cut (2) times, for four circles.
Step 2: Fold the circle in half and then in half again to get a triangle. Fold all 4 circles the same way and sew them together or use hot glue to adhere them.
Step 3: Make a couple of flowers depending on how embellished you want your DIY monogram initial to be.
These fabric DIY monogram letters are truly a great way to decorate a mantel or bookshelf in your home.
They also make for great gifts too… like maybe a baby shower gift or even a back to school gift for a teacher. The possibilities are endless.
