Can’t find the perfect party hats to fit your birthday theme? No problem! Make your own DIY party hats!
We don’t do birthday parties every year for my kids but we do decorate the house and set up the kitchen table the same way we would if we were having a party. No matter how old my kids get they always want party hats. Luckily, we live in a very busy area so I always have access to stores that sell party goods. If you don’t have resources nearby, then these DIY party hats are just for you.
DIY PARTY HATS SUPPLIES:
- Patterned Scrapbook Paper
- Darice Silky Soft Yarn
- Darice Pom Pom Loom
- Party Hat Template
- Darice Glue Gun
- Darice Ribbon
Step One. Download the party hat template and print onto heavy paper. This will be your pattern. I used 12 x 12 Darice cardstock but the pattern will fit onto a standard 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock or scrapbook paper. Trace onto the back of as many sheets of scrapbook paper as needed.
Step Two. Cut out each party hat and glue together with hot glue.
Step Three. Using the Darice Pom Pom Loom and Darice yarn, make as many pom poms as you need. This is the perfect step to do while catching up on your favorite show on your DVR. I made pom poms in a variety of colors but you can make them all one color if you want. You will not have a shortage of yarn, that’s for sure, so have fun with this.
These DIY party hats are great for all your party guests or if you just need to make one special hat for the birthday boy or girl. You can also add some ruffles to the base of the hat. Add a glitter numeral to the front for some added fun. So many options. Let your creative juices flow!
