I love the look of lanterns – they have so many different designs and are versatile enough for most type of decor. Today I’m going to show you an easy way to make this starry papercut lantern to use as a DIY night light or something to decorate the bedroom.
DIY Night Light Lantern Supplies:
- Darice Metal Lantern
- Black Cardstock or Cardboard
- Star Template
- Double-Sided Tape or Glue Dots
- Darice LED String Lights
Step one. Download the template. If you prefer other designs, it’s easy to search them up and trace them. Make a template out of it using a sturdy piece of paper or cardboard.
Step two. Using your template cut out 4 of the design – I used black cardstock to give the appearance of the design extending from the black frame of the lantern, but you can use any other color of paper.
Step four. Put a string of lights inside – battery operated ones would be preferable over ones you have to plug in, but if you have to use plug-in ones, just drill a small opening for it on the corner of your lantern opening.
Step five. I added words in front as a final touch to my DIY night light, but this is optional. I liked the added prettiness it gave.
And that’s it! Easy as pie, and you now have a pretty DIY night light.
I just love papercuts! Change them when you get tired of them with a different design and you’ll have new decor every time.
