I spend more time than I would like in my car. I like my car to smell clean and fresh. Hauling around kids, and sports gear does not make this an easy task. I have collected scented oils and essential oils for my home, and I wanted to incorporate all of the wonderful smells and benefits that these oils offer into my vehicle. So I created these fun DIY car air freshener pom pom pals! The kids helped too. They are fun, and functional. Oils can be added directly to the pom poms and the wood of the clothespin, again and again- to keep my car smelling fresh!
DIY Car Air Freshener Pom Pom Pals Supplies:

- Darice Large Spring Clothespins
- Darice Hot Glue Gun
- Abbey & Sullivan Scented Oils (Your choice of fragrance)
With some creativity, you can really create many different DIY car air freshener pom pom pals from the above supply list. They would be great to give as gifts very inexpensively.
Begin by turning the wooden clothes pin so the long end is facing towards you. The clip end will be inserted into the car vent.
Add a thin line of hot glue along the clothespin, stopping just past the spring. Add your selected pom poms carefully to the hot glue.
Allow the glue to dry. In the meantime, bend a yellow floral stamen in half.
Apply hot glue to the bent center of the stamen.
Insert the glue end of the stamen into the pom pom- in this case behind the first and second pom poms. Hold in place until it dries. Adhere googly eyes to the front pom pom.
For larger pom pom pals, you can add the stamen to the middle of the pom pom by splitting the “fur.”
Experiment with different colors, sizes of pom poms, and sizes of google eyes.
When your DIY car air freshener pals are finished, add some fragrance or essential oil to the pom poms.
Allow the oil to soak in. The wooden clothespin will absorb the oil as well.
I chose to carry the bottle of scented oil in my car to quickly and easily refresh my pom pom pal whenever things start to get smelly!
I love my new DIY car air freshener pom pom pals, the kids love them, and most importantly MY NOSE loves them!
Another way to keep your world smelling fresh is to carry the scent around with you. Create a DIY essential oil diffuser that you can wear as a necklace!
