These DIY birdhouse campers are a fun and festive way to spruce up the outdoors this summer. Grab a couple unfinished wood birdhouses and some paint and you will have an entire campground right in your yard! The birds will love this fun camping adventure and you will love how they look around your home. Be sure to make a few of these before summer is over.
DIY birdhouse camper suplies:
- Darice Unfinished wood birdhouses
- Outdoor paint in a variety of colors
- Drill and drill bit
- Darice Jute Rope
Start by painting a majority of the birdhouse with one color of the paint. I left the door, windows, and wheels unpainted. This may take more than one coat as you want good coverage as these will be outdoors. Be sure to allow the paint to dry in between coats.
Once your final coat of paint has dried, you can then paint your accents with another color. Again, this will probably require a couple of coats and you will want to allow to dry in between coats.
Once you have your camper birdhouses painted, you can then add a hole to the top for hanging. Drill a hole in the top using a drill bit. Depending on the size of your drill bit, you may have to drill two side by side. Sand the edges to remove any splinters. You can also paint the raw edges to protect them.
Pull the two ends of a piece of rope through the drilled hole in the top. Pull through the front of the birdhouse and tie in a knot. You can make the rope any length you would like depending on where you want it to hang.
Push the knot back through the hole and hang the camper birdhouses up by the rope anywhere that you like.
I used a variety of colors on these to show you some options but you can go with one color and stick with it.
Make a few or even a bunch of these painted camper birdhouses for your yard this summer. A retro addition to your outdoor decor is just what is needed this summer.
