Today’s kids craft is so fun, bright and colorful! I wanted to take a little break from all the holiday crafts and work on something a little different… A rainbow inspired craft. But not just any rainbow inspired craft, a rainbow unicorn tutorial. I’ve been eyeing these wooden unicorns on the Darice site for awhile now. I knew they would make a cool kids craft.
Colorful unicorn tutorial supplies:
- Darice Unfinished Wood Unicorns
- Acrylic Paints
- Glitter Paint
- Paint Brush
- Darice Unfinished Wood Hello
Step 1. Let’s pick out our paint colors! I went with a fun pastel rainbow color palette for this craft. Bright and cheerful is what this craft is all about!
Two coats of paint was all that is needed for each unicorn. Let each coat dry 5 minutes.
Step 2. Now it’s time to add some sparkly glitter to the unicorn horns.
Just paint on your glitter and your set! Depending on how much glitter you want, you will need to add more coats. I did a total of three coats for these unicorns.
Step 3. Now it’s time to finish up by adding the eyes and mouth! Use a pencil to draw out first.
Then go over with a thin paint brush and black paint. Now we’re finished and these unicorns are looking AMAZING!
Step 4. I really wanted to add another fun element to this craft project and make something that would be cute to add in a room.
Paint the outside border of the Hello first. I went with purple for a nice surprise POP of color.
Then go over the front with your rainbow color palette.
I really think I need to work with this color palette again soon! With three boys I don’t usually work on kids craft projects like this. I’m more of a dinosaur craft mama!
