With spring in full swing and summer around the corner, all I can think of is swinging on my porch swing with a tall glass of yummy lemonade while the kids play (happily of course) in the backyard. While that may be a dream that never comes true, I can at least indulge in a little bit of spring and summer with some fun new fruit craft coasters for my home! I love everything citrus! I love eating citrus and I think that citrus fruits are just beautifully colored! And so today I am sharing some pretty, citrus fruit inspired coasters that you can easily create yourself to add a bit of color to your home this year!
These citrus inspired fruit craft coasters are really easy to make and you don’t have to be good at painting, creating or making to do these yourself. This is a project that older kids would enjoy helping with too! Keep reading to learn what you need and how to create these cute coasters yourself!
Citrus Fruit Craft Coaster Supplies:
- Darice Cork Disks
- White Craft Paint
- Neon Acrylic Paint (Or paint colors of your choice)
- Mod Podge
- Darice Paint Brushes
You have a couple ways to proceed with the next step. You can either free hand it, or you can make a stencil with paper. I choose to make a stencil. I traced the cork coaster onto a piece of paper with a pencil, then used a ruler to divide the circle into equal triangle sections. I cut the triangles within the lines I drew and use the triangles to trace your citrus shapes onto the coasters.
Then paint the triangle shapes with your neon paint and a small paint brush.
You can paint all the triangle citrus pieces or you can leave some of them empty for a varied look.
Again you can choose to do one or two coats of paint. Just be sure to let the paint dry completely.
After your paint is dry, you can coat your coasters with a layer of Mod Podge for added protection if you like. Be sure to follow the directions and let it cure completely before using.
For another fruity variation, you can also paint your coasters like these adorable watermelon craft coasters!
