If you are looking for an addition to your gallery wall, try this rustic barn wood arrow! I’ve slowly but surely been adding to the wall decor in my living room and since I love arrows, this rustic barn wood arrow was a no brainer. The whole project took me less than 30 minutes, including dry time. Score!
RUSTIC BARN WOOD ARROW SUPPLIES:
- Darice Barn Wood Arrow
- Americana Chalk Paint in Everlasting White
- Darice Paint Brush
- Vinyl Letters or Stickers
- Sand Paper
Step One. Adhere letters to the unpainted wood arrow. You can either use vinyl lettering from a cutting machine or any large letter stickers. Smooth it down nice and good so that the paint from step 2 does not seep through.
Step Two. Pour a small amount of chalk paint onto a paper plate or plastic cup and add a little bit of water to it to thin it out. I did this because I didn’t want the paint to go on super thick. This also allowed for the paint to dry quicker.
Paint the arrow with the paint/water mixture and be sure to paint right over the letters.
Step Three. Wait a few minutes after painting your arrow and remove the vinyl letters. I used a tweezer to lift the letters off and it worked great.
Step Four: Take a small piece of sand paper and begin to sand the edges and anywhere you want the natural wood from the arrow to show. There’s no real rhyme or reason to this so you can do it as much or as little as you’d like.
That’s it. It was such a fun, easy project to do. I was able to pull it off while my kids were all home. That’s a huge deal in my book! Ha! I added it to my gallery wall in my living room and I’m loving how it all looks together.
I used the text “Family” (font is called Go Bold) because I knew it was going on a wall with pictures of my children but there are tons of different things you can spell out on your wood arrow.
