Have you ever gotten sucked into watching a paint pouring video on Facebook or Instagram? I find them so mesmerizing I could watch for hours! I love this fun medium for creating without a plan and enjoying whatever the end result may be! This inspired me to make my own paint pour DIY photo holder.
Paint Pour DIY Photo Holder Supplies:
- Darice Unfinished Wood Block Note Holder
- Acrylic Craft Paints in Desired Colors
- Paint Pouring Medium or Water
- Plastic Cups
- Darice Wood Craft Sticks
Begin this paint pour DIY project by diluting the acrylic craft paints in individual cups with paint pouring medium or water at a ratio of about 1:1. You want them to be fairly fluid (without being too liquid) so that they will pour and flow easily. Mix well with craft sticks.
Pour paint into another cup in layers (this gives you a “dirty pour”).
Place wood photo holder on a protected surface and prop up on another cup. Pour the layered paint across the entire surface of the block.
The actual wire photo holder makes it so convenient to tip and shift the wood photo holder to get that beautiful marbleized dirty pour! You will want to do this a few times to make sure that you don’t have too much paint settling on the top of the wood block and to ensure that the paint drips down all sides to completely cover the wood photo holder.
After about 15 minutes, run a craft stick along the underside of the wood photo holder to scrape off any large drips so that they don’t dry that way. You may need to repeat this a few times during the drying process depending on how much paint you poured and how thick it is.
Allow to dry overnight and now your paint pour DIY wood photo holder is ready to display your favorite photo, note card or place cards for your next party!
